Wayne Vollmer Announces His Retirement

To My Morgan Creek Friends,

I wanted to let you know that I have made the decision to retire from my position as the Director of Golf at Morgan Creek Golf Course as of February 28, 2021.

This has been a difficult decision, but after more than 60 years in the golf business as a PGA Tour Professional, Head Professional, and Director of Golf I feel that it is time for me to set some new goals. As you well know, with summertime being the busiest time of the year in the golf business, I have had little time to spend with our family, especially the grandkids, little time for golf trips or for enjoying outdoor activities. Susan and I have our new E-Bikes – we can’t wait to enjoy some new summer adventures both here and away. Also, I definitely need to work on my health and fitness – excuses will be much harder to come by!

Surprise on 13

This year was a different year for our native wildflower species coming in around the golf course! We normally see a domination of purple Lupine and some Oxeye Daisy surrounding some of our ponds, like 12 and 13. We flail mow all open areas surrounding homes, pond edges and fescue on the course starting in the spring and continuing through to the fall.

It has forced many of us to sit back and really enjoy some downtime with our families. If you have young kids like I do, then you know that the days can fly by trying to keep them entertained. But also giving you a chance to realize that you are a very important person in their lives and can really influence them.I am sure that many of you are in the same boat as I am these days.
